Call for Volunteers
Opening Reception
Friday, March 4, 2016, 7 – 9 pm

The Art Gallery is excited to open five new exhibitions on March 4th and we’re in need of volunteers to help with the big event! Check out the positions below and contact the Art Gallery if you’d like to help.

Greeters at the Heritage Doors (2 people)
During the event, the west side doors to the Art Gallery, known as the Heritage Doors, will be opened and visitors will be allowed to enter.

Coat Check (2 people)
Two volunteers are needed to check coats at the reception area of the Art Gallery.

Green Space (2 people)
Two volunteers are needed to assist visitors with their experience in the Carlstrom Family Green Space. This will include greeting visitors, monitoring the space, and replenishing art materials.

Bar Sales (4 people)
Two bar tables will be set up within the Art Gallery and we will need 4 bartenders to serve alcohol to guests.
Must be18 years old.
Pro Serve certification is required.

Event Supporters (2 people)
Volunteers are needed as general assistants to Art Gallery staff to ensure the evening goes smoothly and to possibly fill in for other posted positions.

Join the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie on Friday, March 4th for the opening reception of five exhibitions. Everyone is welcome to attend this free event.

Call for Volunteers
Education Preparations

Ages 12 and up

Friday, February 19 between 2 – 5 pm
AND
Wednesday, February 24 between 2 – 5 pm

The Carlstrom Family Green Space will be seeing some new art projects and themes as the new exhibitions arrive on March 4th. The Art Gallery is hosting a volunteer work-bee to prepare the new materials for visitors. The work-bee will be held at the Art Gallery and volunteers will be asked to work together with various tasks, including cutting paper shapes, sorting art supplies by colour and/or size, cutting plasticine blocks, cutting ribbon and/or foam shapes, and other small tasks that will supply the Green Space visitors with materials for the coming months.

Exhibition Change Over
February 16 – March 3, 2016

The art exhibitions at the Art Gallery will be changing soon. We will need volunteers to assist us with taking down the current artwork and installing five new exhibits. Volunteers must be 16 years or older.

Wall Preparation (3 – 5 people)
Varying shifts available between February 16 – 26.

Assisting Art Gallery staff with:

·      Removing vinyl lettering from the walls

·      Patching/Sanding/Painting walls

Art Packers (3 people)
Varying shifts available between February 16 – 26.

The current artwork will need to be removed from the walls, wrapped and crated before shipping out. There are strict shipping deadlines that must be met.

 

Entomology Assistants (2 people)
February 29 – March 3 (4 days)
10 – 5 pm (or 4 – 7 hours per day)

Shelley Ouellet’s artwork installation, called Entomology, is an elaborate structure and the artist requires several volunteers to assist with the installation of the work. It’s best if volunteers are available to commit to the full four days, but less is also appreciated.

The Montrose Cultural Centre opened its doors in June 2009. It is home to the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie, the Grande Prairie Public Library, Esquires Coffee House, and the Teresa Sargent Hall. It is a place for the community to gather in support of the arts and culture in Grande Prairie.
