Community Appreciation Night - Thursday, August 20th!
Opportunities for Artists: What's Next?

In this professional development presentation, Chris Carson will outline resources that can help visual artists become more professional in their practice. This presentation will introduce the Canadian Artists’ Representation/Le Front des artistes canadiens (CARFAC) and the role of Arts Advocacy, as well as explore opportunities for getting your artwork out of the studio by examining potential exhibition opportunities that exist within your community and other parts of Alberta.

Chris W. Carson completed a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from the University of British Columbia and works as an arts administrator and a visual artist. He worked for many art organizations and galleries throughout Alberta including the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie. Since 2010, Carson has been employed as the Executive Director of Visual Arts Alberta – CARFAC (a provincial arts service organization and the provincial affiliate for CARFAC).

Date: Saturday, August 8, 2015
Time: 2 – 4 pm
Location: Rotary Community Room in the Montrose Cultural Centre
9839 – 103 Ave, Grande Prairie
This workshop is free and open to all artists.

Coming This Fall

Grande Prairie has a fantastic weekend lined up for Alberta Culture Days!  Local organizations are excited to present art exhibitions and openings, artist talks, film screenings, performances, and more!

The Montrose Cultural Centre opened its doors in June 2009. It is home to the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie, the Grande Prairie Public Library, Esquires Coffee House, and the Teresa Sargent Hall. It is a place for the community to gather in support of the arts and culture in Grande Prairie.
