Earth Day CelebrationsEarth Day is on April 22nd and the Grande Prairie community is once again coming together to bring you a great Earth Day event! A Community Celebration and Trade show will take place at the Montrose Cultural Centre from 11:30 am - 8 pm. There will be a variety of great activities for kids, door prizes, screenings of the documentary "Just Eat It: A Food Waste Movie", you can learn to grow a garden, limit food waste, and reuse and recycle many household items. You can even sign up to have fresh veggies delivered to your home! Join us this Earth Day to learn about living a more sustainable lifestyle in Grande Prairie.

Earth Day Community MuralVisitors to the Montrose Cultural Centre and participants attending the Earth Day celebrations are invited to draw or write their Earth Day commitments using window markers. Make your mark and add to the visual dialogue we are having with each other!
The Earth Day Mural is a community art installation facilitated by the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie. It is a group project that invites all visitors to contribute a small piece to the larger mural using the provided Window Markers. A collaborative artwork like this allows everyone to participate and for visitors to view it change and grow over time.

Emilie, Karl and Dean Mattson will be at the Art Gallery to speak about their exhibition, The Expedition, currently on display at the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie. They all live and work on the same plot of land near Rolla, BC, just as their family has for generations. While they have similar themes within their work, all three artists will speak independently about their body of work and how they support and influence each other.

Art for the Curious This FridayPlease call the Art Gallery today if you would like to register your child in this Friday's Art for the Curious class. Explore the Art Gallery’s current exhibitions through a facilitated tour and create art inspired by the exhibitions. This program for 6-12 year olds is held on select Friday afternoons.

Community Events

The Montrose Cultural Centre opened its doors in June 2009. It is home to the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie, the Grande Prairie Public Library, Esquires Coffee House, and the Teresa Sargent Hall. It is a place for the community to gather in support of the arts and culture in Grande Prairie.
