The exhibition reflects upon the isolation and alienation of urban life using the window as a metaphor for all of the factors within the contemporary city that, while creating the illusion of contact with others and the environment, in fact serve to prevent that very contact. Each of the works in the exhibition is a complex grouping of small canvases arranged and painted to create the illusion of viewing a scene through a large window, where each canvas represents one pane of glass. Terry Reynoldson lives and works in Calgary.
