Independent II: Grande Prairie Regional College Fine Art Students

January 1, 1970 - January 1, 1970

One of the first things art students always ask for is independence when they start taking studio art classes. “I just want to make whatever I want to” is a common statement. The special projects classes offered through Grande Prairie Regional College Fine Art Department allow them to do just that. As any of these students will tell you “be careful what you ask for…”

Full of fits and starts, discoveries, frustration and exhilaration the work presented is from a year-long class in which the students set and follow their own direction under the guidance of one of the fine arts instructors. For many it is the first taste of what an artist studio practice is really about. And for these students the success of that year is obvious.
