Art Quest: Summer Art Camps 2017

Add a little art adventure to your summer! Join the art instructors at the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie to celebrate and explore art through sculpture, fibre arts, drawing and installation art. The summer art camp will ignite creative imagination in its campers and allow young artists to discover and create in a lively and nurturing studio environment. Projects are inspired by our current exhibitions.

Week 1: July 3 – 7, 2017
Sculpture: Ceramic Hybrids
Based on Greg Payce’s exhibition entitled Anthology, students will build 3-dimensional forms using sculptural and ceramic techniques.

Week 2: July 10 – 14, 2017
Fibre Arts: Emerging Patterns
Inviting student’s own imagination and inspired by current textile exhibitions, students will learn about various techniques related to weaving and fibre arts.

Week 3: July 17 – 21, 2017
Drawing: Portrait Fusion
Students will learn different techniques of how to draw people’s portraits using basic and special art materials.

Week 4: July 31 – August 4, 2017
Installation Art: Integrated Processes
Often emphasizing a sensory experience, installation art evokes memory, feelings, and thoughts. Students will learn how space can activate the senses by mixing different mediums.
