POP! Goes the Art Auction – Art Auction 37

In 2017, the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie’s fundraising event will be the 37th Annual Art Auction. We’re planning our most exciting Art Auction ever! “POP! Goes the Art Auction” will take place on Saturday, April 8, 2017 and we will welcome our friends to a new and exciting event. We hope you will support your Art Gallery by joining us as a guest, donating a work of art, or being an event sponsor.

The staff and Board of the AGGP, along with the Art Auction committee, hope that you will join us for ‘POP! Goes the Art Auction – Art Auction 37’ in support of exhibitions and education programming at the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie. We have some special features this year and the night is sure to be one to remember!

The Art Gallery of Grande Prairie’s 37th annual fundraiser, our signature event of the year, will feature a limited number of opportunities for artists to participate, so we encourage you to submit by emailing artauction@aggp.ca.

Hello Grande Prairie!

I am delighted to invite you to “POP! Goes the Art Auction”, the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie’s 37th Annual Art Auction on April 8th!

The Art Auction Committee is planning an exciting event this year, with brand new elements added to the evening!  The word is getting out that this will be a unique occasion and I’d like to fill you in on some of the details.

To create an innovative evening, the Art Auction Committee is restructuring the event to allow for a vibrant atmosphere while still offering many of the same elements that have been crowd favourites at previous Art Auctions.

One of the new changes is different levels of tickets – the Art Auction is the Gallery’s largest fundraiser of the year, and the Committee hopes to offer different experiences throughout the evening depending on how much time a guest wants to spend at the event.

The Regular Admittance ticket is the option that is most similar to previous years.  Previous Art Auctions have had appetizers served family style at each table.  Jeffrey’s Cafe Co. always does a fantastic job catering for us and the appetizers have always seemed like they could be considered a full meal!  This year will be much the same as Jeffrey’s is again catering for the event and I know the food will be spectacular.  The main difference will be that since this isn’t a seated event in the same way that previous year’s events have been (but don’t worry – there will still be comfortable seating to sit and visit with friends!), the appetizers will be circulated by waitstaff instead of served at a table.

The changes have allowed the program portion of the Art Auction to be shortened and a later start was warranted to keep the evening moving!  Part of this decision includes having a different auctioneer this year and we are excited to be in contact with a local auctioneer to be a vital part of the Auction.

The later start to this portion of the evening lead to the opportunity of having an earlier start for Sponsors and other guests wanting and willing to pay for the extra time.  The Gallery is so grateful for those companies that are willing to sponsor the event and hope to have this be a positive benefit for them.  The VIP ticket for the earlier start will include a seated meal in the Gallery (also catered by Jeffrey’s), premium liquor at the VIP bar, and a gift of a limited edition print to commemorate the evening. A $150 tax receipt is included with each VIP ticket.

Whichever option you choose – I can guarantee that you will have a fantastic evening. The Teresa Sargent Hall is being turned into a warehouse for the event, and the Pop Art theme will make an exciting atmosphere for this bash! Bring comfortable shoes to change into, because once the Auction is done, DJ Gritt N’ Baritt is going to bring down the house! Purchase your tickets on Eventbrite.ca.

Please note that submissions (not the art, just the email with details) must be received by March 4, 2017 to be considered. The art submitted does not have to be Pop Art themed! We love our local artists and want to give our guests the opportunity to see Grande Prairie’s best work.
