First Nations Birch Bark Basketmaking Workshop  August 2, 2008

Learn about the techniques and traditions of handcrafting First Nations Birch Bark Baskets! First, join Nisga’a artist Katrina Favell on a field trip to the Wapiti River near O’Brien Park where she will demonstrate how to harvest birch bark. Then, after harvesting your own birch bark, we will come back to the Gallery or Studio B at the Grande Prairie Regional College where Katrina will share with us techniques and traditions of handcrafting First Nations baskets and you will have the opportunity to enjoy creating your own birch bark basket.

Summer Art Camps  July – August 2008

This year’s Summer Art Camp theme is Open Spaces: Taking Art Outdoors. Register your child for one of our week long, half day camps where they can learn painting, drawing, public art, multi media, sculpture or cartoon drawing. At the end of the summer, all students who participated in one of our camps will have the opportunity to show their work in our Summer’s End Exhibition.
