Update on the Gallery’s Future

A Message from Art Gallery of Grande Prairie Director Robert Steven:

Hello Friends of the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie,

Thank you very much for all of your support over the past week in assisting the Gallery and City Council to move forward on resolving the issue of our collapsed building.

Thanks to the hard work of everyone involved–including City Council, City Administration, the Gallery Board and Staff, and especially all of you who contacted the members of Council and attended the Community Development Committee meeting– the Community Development Committee agreed to recommend to City Council that it should move forward quickly with repair of the historic building and connection of it to the new Montrose Cultural Centre.

We are very grateful for all the support that we have received in advocating for this decision, and would like to thank you sincerely. We would also ask that you, as friends of the gallery, consider thanking members of City Council for their support, and consider attending City Council’s meeting on December 15 at 7PM to offer your support to Council as it considers these recommendations from the Community Development Committee, which the Gallery wholeheartedly endorses.

As always, if you have any comments or questions, please e-mail me at, call me at 780-532-8111 ext 103, or drop by our temporary offices at 9856-97 Avenue, unit 103.

We believe that all of the work of the past 20 months has finally found a path to a successful and affordable solution to our collapse, and we are very excited to work closely with the City to ensure that our full service is restored as soon as possible.

 Many thanks again,

Robert Steven,

Executive Director/Curator
