Visit Nicole Bauberger

Nicole Bauberger’s 100 Dresses for Grande Prairie began last Saturday.  Be sure to visit her soon.  Nicole’s last day of painting is Monday, November 10.

She is creating 100 paintings of dresses in 10 days. They are painted in encaustic, a form of painting with melted beeswax and pigment, fused to a surface with heat. The public is invited to watch her brush, layer, scrape, carve, and sometimes embed found objects in the wax to make one hundred small paintings of dresses.

Nicole is at the Grande Prairie Regional College in the Pillars area November 1-10, 2008.

All of the paintings will be exhibited in the Glass Gallery at Grande Prairie Regional College from November 14 -24, 2008.

In addition to these, Bauberger welcomes “Guest Dresses” made by members of the community. Join her between 2 -4 pm (or by appointment) during November 1-10, and you can try your hand at the wax. If you like, you can leave it as part of the “Guest Dress” portion of the exhibition, to pick up at the show’s end. It will be installed in the Glass Gallery at Grande Prairie Regional College with the title of the dress, and your name.
