Community Canvas – Saturday September 19th, 2026. 11:00 am – 3:00 pm
Community Canvas is a free, large-scale, all-ages community art project presented by the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie for Alberta Culture Days. The event will welcome visitors back to the Gallery and invite them to help put art back on the walls by drawing, colouring, illustrating and adding written messages to an evolving collaborative artwork.
Large sheets of paper measuring four feet wide and up to twelve feet long will be installed along the walls of the Feature Gallery. Throughout the event, visitors will be encouraged to find a space, respond to something already created, begin a new section, or simply make their mark.
A variety of accessible art materials will be available, including pencils, pencil crayons, crayons, paint sticks, oil pastels, and stickers. Images of artworks from the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie’s Permanent Collection will be projected in the gallery to provide inspiration and reconnect visitors with the Gallery’s collection.
Participants may contribute to the large community artwork or create an individual mini-masterpiece. No previous art experience will be required, and visitors may participate for a few minutes or remain for the entire event.
No Registration Necessary.
