Meet the Artist – Mixed Media Process with Katherine Moe

Katherine Moe is a Grande Prairie Artist.  After a successful teaching career, she pursued her passion in the arts attending Grande Prairie Regional College and completed a Visual Arts Diploma. She has also studied printmaking with artists in British Columbia and Alberta. Katherine is a member of the Canadian Federation of Artists and Print Artists North.  

I often compare making art to solving a puzzle.  Every mark and its placement effects the next move.  I am continuously searching for solutions to maintain a balance between colours, shapes, line and texture.  Nothing is predetermined. It is in a continuous state of cause and effect until the last mark is placed. 

Using colour and a variety of mark making techniques, I transform the blank paper into a rhythmic pattern of colour.  The viewer is free to enjoy the movement and conceptualize their own meaning.
