Rise Again

The Restoration of the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie

Rise Again

October 1, 2012 - May 30, 2013

On March 19, 2007, the historic 1929 Grande Prairie High School Building, home to the Prairie Gallery Society since 1985, partially collapsed under heavy snow. After several years of study, construction began in 2010 to restore the historic exterior and modernize the interior with the support of the Building Canada Fund. The City of Grande Prairie has managed the construction project, Teeple Architects of Toronto designed the restoration, and Chandos Construction of Edmonton was the general contractor.

Grande Prairie photographer Kim Scott visited the construction site frequently from 2010 through 2012, and has documented the historic restoration from beginning to end. The Art Gallery of Grande Prairie is pleased to present this small selection from the thousands of images she captured on this site for posterity.
