A note on our upcoming temporary closure

The Art Gallery of Grande Prairie is closing in order to serve you better

The Art Gallery of Grande Prairie will temporarily close from early January to October 2026 as we undergo renovations, allowing us to serve our community in a sustainable and secure manner for the next 50 years to come. Due to the extent of the renovations, we won’t be able to offer exhibitions or learning programs within our space in the Montrose Cultural Centre for the better part of next year. At this time, we are hard at work ensuring that we will continue to serve the community during the closure period.

Our Travelling Exhibitions program (TREX) will continue to circulate accessible, easy-to-display exhibitions by Albertan artists around Grande Prairie and the Peace Region: get in touch if you’d like to host one of our amazing shows!

Throughout 2026, our Education team will continue to offer free, accessible programming for children and youth as well as Creativity Kits. During the closure period, the team will operate out of the Grande Prairie Museum, where they will host programming in addition to touring around the City and surrounding areas. Reach out if you’d like information on how to engage with educational programming.

Behind the scenes, the AGGP team will be diligently re-cataloguing the Permanent Collection. We will launch a new searchable database, which will increase access and engagement in this incredible cultural resource like never before. We look forward to expanding the reach and accessibility of the collection and preserving regional culture and heritage.

We will reopen to the public in Fall 2026 with a trio of exciting exhibitions for you to enjoy. In the meantime, we will remain open to the public until the new year, so be sure to come by for a visit. As always, reach out to us if you have any questions. Your ongoing support and membership are incredibly important to the future of the Gallery: an essential cultural institution for northern Alberta.
