50 Years of Collecting

50 Years of Collecting

July 2, 2020 - January 24, 2021

50 Years of Collecting takes a comprehensive look at the Permanent Collection at the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie. Dedicated to the preservation of artistic legacies and regional aesthetics, the Collection has grown to include works that reflect a diversity of historical and contemporary Canadian artists.

The gallery proudly presents a sampling of our hundreds of pieces of work, curated into three ‘miniatures’;
Land of the People – this package represents just some of the strongest styles and thematics in the entire Collection; the land on which we live, work and play.
Pushing Norms + Forms – often perceived as some of the more challenging and ground-breaking pieces in the Collection, this is a package of abstract and post modern work from visionary artists.
Etches+Sketches@Whimsy – these drawings and prints are alternately disturbing, delightful and a real source of surprise from the Collection.
